Santa Claus is Coming to Town

Guess who Ginger met tonight! The big man himself, Old Saint Nick. She wasn't quite sure how to react to the bearded stranger, but at least she didn't scream and cry like I apparently did at her age. I think I saw her mumbling her wish list to him, so I hope he got it all down and doesn't disappoint!

Exhausted!

We have had a scary couple of days with Ginger. On Wednesday night, I noticed that she was not breathing normal. Her breaths were very shallow, and she was struggling to get them. We took her to the ER and found out that she had RSV, so the doctor admitted her. By Thursday night, she was no better and not receiving the level of care that we believed she should be getting. Her little heart was beating anywhere from 176 to 190, and her oxygen was still too low to have been under the oxygen tent for several hours. We were transported to Le Bonheur in Memphis, and once Ginger was in their care, she immediately began getting better. On top of RSV, she had become dehydrated (from the lack of IV fluids at previous hospital)! But we are now home and Ginger is back to her usual happy little self! (I'm sure I was supposed to include some commas in that sentence somewhere, but I'm really tired.) We praise God for her speedy recovery and are completely and totally impressed with Le Bonheur...wonderful hospital!!!

Although she was very sick, she was playful and happy the whole time.

Chillin'
(Her leg was not broken! The nurses put a cast on her to keep her from pulling out her IV.)

Sweet baby!

I'm Feeling Lucky!

One of my favorite bloggers, Laura, is giving something away on the day of her blogoversary. What is she giving away you ask? I don't know. Do I have a chance of winning? I don't know...probably not looking at my track record, but nonetheless, I'm still excited. By giving her a shout-out, my name goes in the drawing twice! I'm feeling lucky!!! Go on over to her blog and check out her "Little Life." It's a good read!

In Christ Alone

I get so caught up in my day to day routine that I don't always take the time to remember what Christ has done for me on the cross. In Christ Alone is a song that we sing at FBC in Greenville, and it's message is so powerful and reminds me of the power that I have in Him. I wanted so badly to link the video that goes with this song, so you could hear it sung, but I'm still new at this blogging thing and haven't figured it out (all helpful tips would be appreciated). If you have time, google "In Christ Alone Video Travis Cottrell" to hear it. Hope it points you to the cross!

In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
‘Til on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ

On Christ the Solid Rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
‘til He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand

Ginger and Sophie

I think they are going to be the best of friends!

Last weekend, Sophie pulled this move, and Ginger grabbed her tongue and pulled on it until Sophie cried for mercy!

6 Months!

Dear Ginger,

Today you are six months old. I cannot believe how fast time has flown! It seems like just yesterday we were coming home from the hospital, and I was wondering how I was going to take care of such a tiny baby. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me and your daddy. I thank God everyday for choosing me to be your mommy!!! I fall more in love with you every single day!!! You are my sunshine!!!

At six months you are:
  • sitting all by yourself
  • secretly maneuvering from one side of your play mat to the other while we are not looking
  • eating cereal and pureed fruits and veggies (Pumpkins with Pears, Sweet Peas, and Applesauce are your favorites)
  • taking 3 glorious naps a day :) and sleeping through the night (for the most part)
  • waking up around 7:00 each morning
  • going to bed around 8:30 each night
  • in size 3 diapers (as of this past weekend)
  • squirmy when I try to change your diaper
  • wearing 6-9 month clothes
  • grinning from ear to ear when your daddy comes home from work
  • grabbing at anything and everything that is within your reach
I love you so much!!!!!!!
